What is pruning?
Not sure where to start? I've put together a 34-page guide to help you grow an abundant harvest.
Topping refers to cutting the top off of a young seedling to encourage it to produce more side shoots. This can help your plant grow sturdier and bushier.
Bottom pruning involves removing all branches up to 6-8" above the soil. This improves airflow and reduces splash back when you water your plant or when it rains.
There's no simple right-or-wrong answer to this equation. Consider your growing circumstances and gardening goals. Personally, I have topped some of my peppers to see what produces the best yield!
The "green thumb" is a myth — with the right information, anyone can successfully grow peppers. Enjoy this free 34-page guide to help you grow an abundant harvest.
