Most peppers  thrive in warm temperatures between 70°F – 80°F during the day and 60°F – 70°F at night and take 70 to 120 to mature. If you live in an area with short, warm seasons, you may want to choose a pepper variety that matures more quickly.

Direct sowing vs. transplanting

Direct sowing involves planting seed directly into the soil in the location where the plant will grow to full maturity. In contrast, transplanting involves planting a seedling into the ground.

If you live in an area with long, warm summers, you can direct sow your pepper seeds once nighttime temperatures consistently reach at least 50°F, and ideally when soil temperatures are at least 60°F.
